My Blood Approves
review 1: Our story starts off with Alice Bonham and her best friend Jane are out clubbing downtown. After they can't get in (because their only 17). They start to leave and about 4 gang rapists start to stalk after the two teens and corner them. Next, up comes our hero - Jack - he drives up just in the nick of time to do a little whoop ass on the gang and insist that the two girls let him take them out for coffee and a ride home. Once they are having coffee - Jane is all over Jack. Alice can't really understand it because though, Jack is a good looking guy but he is not supermodel hot. But Alice can tell something is different about him because every girl swoons over him and his looks. Jack seemed more interested in Alice during their outing mainly because she is the only girl that... more does not seem to swoon over him. Fast forward a little - Alice gets a text message from Jack asking her if she wants to hang out. Alice is game and is a little flattered because apparently Jack programmed his # into her phone on the way home. Jack and Alice start to become great friends with a little bit attraction between them but it is very subtle. Jack wants to take her home to meet his family. His family falls in love with her but Jack's brother Peter seems to hate her for a reason that Alice doesn't understand. The weird part about Peter is that Alice is very drawn to Peter. Alice feels a little bad about that because she is not really sure if her and Jack are just friends or not. And our story starts here...... Well as the book description tells you - Jack and Peter are.....wait for it...Vampires!!! Shock, I know. Anyhoo... I really loved this book. It was a little slow paced but I liked that because you really see the relationship develop between Jack and Alice. I am not going into much more of the details because if I did, what fun would it be to read the book. I will say - I loved this book and could not wait to read the second one.
review 2: Not what I expected. There is definite lack of polish here, but that's to be expected with a self-published novel. Alice is pain-in-the-ass kill-me-now suffocating in her idiocy, naivete, and overall lack of personality, but the quirky Townsends make the read worth it. Jack is fun and Peter is intensely intriguing, so I'll stick with it. Plus, huge fan of Hocking's Trylle and Watersong series' over here, so I'll support the author when I can. less
