review 1: This book has you wishing that kelsey will be able to forgive herself for what happened to her six years ago. The moment that she sets eyes on kane she can't seem to let herself forget those eyes of his there is something in them that has her calling to them . This book is a true romance it will make you want to know what will happen between kalesy and kane will there past hold tham back or push them foward time will only tell. Cant wait for the next one in the series
review 2: I actually really liked this book and yes this surprises me because of some of the bad reviews. I thought it would be cliche, and it was to a point, but boys like Kane do exist and I like reading about them. I can't remember where I saw this book and decided to look it up on amazon but I
... more'm glad I'm did. With this being said, there were things about this book I didn't like. The basic summary: Kelsey Rein is finally ready to let her past go and start living her life. Hoping that going to college will allow her to do that, she never expects to run into bad boy Kane Riley. (Okay so the K in their first names and R in their last names is a little odd to me. I like both the names but perhaps the spelling? It's not cute....giving your twins names that start with the same letter is cute, not love interests. Not saying it doesn't happen in real life....okay I'll stop rambling) Kane is everything she should stay away from, especially while she's trying to find the person she use to be. With tattoos, a lip piercing, and a bad reputation you would think Kelsey would know to distance herself from someone like Kane, but when her best friend Jessi starts dating Kane's best friend they are forced to be around each other. Can Kane be someone to save Kelsey or at least assist her in finding herself again? The things I liked about the book: Kelsey. She was sweet and a fighter. When she referenced her past life it didn't annoy me like you see with some female lead characters. They want to whine about the card they've been dealt but I feel Kelsey really wanted to change that. She's had a hard life, but she didn't want anyone's pity. She just wanted people to see HER and not the past that seemed to be playing over and over on her forehead.Kane. Tattoos? Lip piercing? Yes please! Let's top it off with the fact he actually cares about people! I was a little disappointed that not much of his bad boy past was put out for us to see because it would have been nice to get that glimpse of him. Bad boys are a weird breed. Women are attracted to them but then we get angry when they do us wrong. Why in the hell can't we listen and STAY away from bad boys? Because bad boys have a heart too and for some reason the possibility of seeing the person beneath the bad boy is intriguing. Kane was sweet and yes we were told he had a bad boy past, we don't get to see it though.Kane's Maw and Paw. Just love old people and their old-fashion ways. They played a little part in the book but it was enough to leave a lasting impression. The overall story line. Who doesn't like the bad boy trying to pick up the broken girl? Except, at the time of Kane meeting Kelsey he was no longer a bad boy, not that I could see anyway. The humor in the book. Kelsey talking about being so hungry she could eat lip gloss? I mean, who doesn't like a little originality every now and again? Being so hungry you could eat a horse is getting old. Hell, I sometimes say, I'm so hungry I could eat your face. :-/ Yes, I have that kind of joking personality and this doesn't mean I'm a cannibal. Another line of humor? Jessi and Kelsey are eating at a local cafe close to campus and Jessi is devouring her sandwich, being quite loud about it. Kelsey responds by saying "Could you please keep your sandwich orgasms down to a minimum? You're giving that table over there a free show." Haha....love Kelsey and her wittiness.Jessi. She seems like a really awesome best friend. There was only one part that would have made me smack her and that's a non-mutual kiss between Kelsey and some guy named Walker. A kiss that was not welcomed and Jessi jokes about it? Other than that I loved how much she cared about Kelsey. Yes, I would have liked to see more of their background friendship and things of the sort but what I got to see from Jessi, I liked. The things I didn't like: The writing. There were times where past and present tense would be used in the same sentence. Totally not joking. There were a few other errors but not enough to completely turn me off of the book. The past and present tense got me more than anything.Rushed. The way Kelsey and Kane start talking...it's like it happened behind my back. Yes, that's how quick it happens. I kind of wish you could have seen Kane chasing Kelsey. It would've been really great to see her throw her quick wit out when he tries to come onto her. Even the ending is rushed. It happens and boom it's over. This is one thing that has prevented me from finishing my own project. My ending feels rushed. Not enough action, not enough drawing it out for the reader. You know the action scenes where you are flipping pages to find out what happens next? Nope this has maybe one page to flip over to and then boom it's over.Katie. Ugh, girls like her is what is wrong in this world. Trust me, I KNOW girls like her that think the same way she does and I have had to put up with their crap when all I really want to do is drag them by their pretty blond hair (or whatever color of hair they have, bitches don't discriminate. They come in all sizes and colors. Of hair that is.) and toss them over the side of a bridge or .... into a brick wall...whichever is closer.Nate. Guys like this is what is wrong with the world. Entitled momma's boys. He feels he MUST reveal Kane's past to Kelsey and what other reason would he have other than so Kelsey wouldn't get near Kane? If I listened to what everyone says about the man that I share a life with I would never know the him beneath all the bulls***. Besides, who cares about the past that Kane (or anyone else for that matter) has lived. It makes them stronger (if they allow it) and possibly a better person. Regret it a terrible thing, but regret with the daily reminder of what you did by someone who could give two s***s about you could make you want to tie yourself in a straight jacket and go wandering in the desert just so you see the punishment that person thinks you deserve. Anyway, Nate's a crazy psycho and by his actions I picture him now as a woman with big breasts chasing after some guy with a huge machete all because he doesn't want to get her pregnant. The drama with Kane and Kelsey. Unnecessary and if it was going to be added in, it could have been more than it was.The obvious ending. I knew somewhat of what the ending was going to be like. Once the clues hit I knew what was going to happen for the most part. Again, it was too rushed. Had it been drawn out for a little bit I wouldn't have been so bummed because even though I knew the ending was coming it could have been so awesome where I could have pushed the obvious into oblivion.***SPOILERS BELOW***If you don't mind COMPLETE spoilers then read on. I mean, I'm about to tell you things that happen in the book. Yes, that is what a spoiler is. Don't believe me? Well, you know there's this thing called a dictionary........Oh you know what the is? Well, then go to the section where the letter s is and find the word. Then read the meaning. There ya go.This is perhaps the weirdest review I've done. Oh well, we will all live now won't we? Blah blah blah, Kelsey falls for Kane (don't blame her) and then she wants to guard her heart. No big surprise there! We all have to guard our little beating organs where blood oozes in and out of it. I mean Kelsey has been through some s***. She's watched her mother die at the hands of her own father...she has never known what it meant to be in a relationship because what her mom and dad had was not even remotely close to a relationship. It was more like pit bull and pit bull's owner. (Yes I'm referencing dog fighting) It's only natural she's going to feel guarded and Kane's reputation doesn't really help. I'm glad she gives him a chance because she learns she isn't the only one fighting her own internal battles and that perhaps they can help each other heal with time. We learn that Kane's past was attributed to the fact he lost his parents and the only way to deal with the loss was for him to disrespect himself and other's by turning into the type of jerk everybody hates. I was kind of disappointed that we were told of Kane's past instead of seeing it. Even though he isn't that person anymore perhaps someone from his past could have come around and yelled at him for being an absolute jerk to her and not calling her back after she spread her legs to him? I don't know, just an idea.Again I'll address the drama between Kane and Kelsey. Kelsey goes to surprise Kane at the club 'shots' where Kane is working and she walks in to find that Katie (an apparent ex of Kane's) is forcing herself upon him. From Kelsey's point of view she sees Kane kissing Katie back and who wouldn't be pissed, expecting the bad boy to not be able to stray from his ways. But hello, we haven't seen Kane be a total ass once he has Kelsey and he even tries to explain things to her and talk about them and then she goes and 'dances' with Nate without giving Kane the time of day to explain himself? Give the boy a little credit. I mean, he even introduced you to Katie as his girlfriend so of course a few days later he's not going to be making out with her. Anyhow, this part really infuriated me because it's obvious what happened. Kelsey saw what she EXPECTED to see not what was actually happening. This is the only part in the book that made me want to slap the s*** out of Kelsey and here lately it happens more than once in a book so props to Amanda for making a main character that's likable. The ending? So, her dad gets out of jail and comes to find her? I saw that coming the second the 'clues' made their way into the book. What I didn't expect was Nate being the one Kelsey had to watch for. Nate takes her to this secluded building where he says he just wants to 'talk' to her. Then her dad shows up, shoots Nate, is about to shoot her and then Kane comes walking in and he gets shot by her dad and then they wrestle for a minute and Kelsey ends up shooting her dad. Yes, this is the way it probably should have been wrote because that's what I felt I read. This was the biggest complaint I had was how rushed everything was.***END OF SPOILERS***All in all I really liked this story. I loved Kane and Kelsey and would've liked to see their story developed a little more. I liked how bad ass Kelsey ended up being. If you want to read about bad boys I would let you know that you don't see the bad boy side of Kane at all but you do see a side of him that is very rare in guys. Like he has the bad boy looks but the sweetheart that every girl wishes their man had. I love Kane for sure! less

I cannot handle this anymore. I simply cannot handle all this angst bullshit anymore. I'm done. I don't know exactly what I expected from this book, but honestly I expected more. I don't know if I was just in a pissy attitude while I read this but within the first couple of pages, I was already rolling my eyes. Kelsey was so fucking annoying I couldn't even handle it. I get it, your dad murdered your mom, but seriously? Every fucking page she manages to work in there how she "used to be a different person, and ever since the accident, she's all quiet and different and not outspoken like Jessie" And don't even get me started on Jessie. I couldn't stand her, I couldn't stand how Kelsey did every fucking thing she didn't want to do just to make her happy. Like she didn't even want to get a tattoo, yet she's like "Jessie had to give up so many dates for me while I went through a tough time, she deserves me doing this for her."Boo fucking who. She couldn't go whore around while you were getting over your mother's murder, how fucking terrible. This book was just entirely stupid, it had no potential to become something good. I hated Kelsey, I hated Jessie, and I hated Landon. And I fucking despised Kane. I don't know what the fuck Stone had planned for this story when it came to Kane, but it was utterly ridiculous. Kane has all these tattoos and piercing and yet he talks like a fucking girl and just completely pissed me off. I don't give a shit if the guy is a douchebag or if he is nice, but at least make him realistic. This entire book just made me groan, sigh, and roll my eyes in annoyance. There was not a likable quality at any part of this book. I don't even know why I gave the book two stars. It doesn't even deserve one.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. The plot of this book is so overused and incredibly predictable. A broken girl flees to a university far away from her hometown to escape the damaged life her father caused. A sexy, smooth-talking "bad boy" meets her and they hit it off immediately. But wait! She won't have sex with him, and makes it clear that she won't despite him not even mentioning it at all. Their relationship takes the typical course of casual flirting to working to get past the deep-seeded issues the girl has. Someone tell me that I'm not the only one who knew the end of this story before it began. It wasn't just the plot being predictable either, it's always the broken girl who has the extroverted and flirty best friend who obviously attracts the best friend of the bad boy. I don't see how authors can reuse the same plot; it's time to be different! Write something completely new and fresh; it's easier said than done, I'm aware but take that chance! Be creative and extraordinary. And please, write anything but this. There are far too many stories that don't keep you on your toes, stories that have more than enough in common with every other book out there.
