review 1: Compelling story. An upbeat narrator tells his life story in a very unusual way. I really couldn't put it down. If I told you the premise (which you can probably find on Amazon, and which you will learn in the first few pages of the book) it might turn you away from the book. So I'll just recommend it and say, "Read the first few pages and try to put it down, just try." (Spoiler alert for following:) I really do not like prison stories and I usually stay far away from stories about kidnappings, but I tried to put those biases behind me with this book, and appreciate the author's ability to reveal the main character's personality, motivations and behavior towards his father, his wife, his in-laws and his daughter.

... moreations of the child were believable as a six-year-old. A nine or ten-year-old, maybe! I didn't like either the mother, or the father in this case. I wanted to feel more for the dad, but he was just weird and irresponsible. I was hoping for more light to be shed on the father's childhood, but the author veers off just short of doing this. This being said, some of the thoughts and ideas were interesting in and of themselves. less

I liked it, but had issues with the ending. It sort of left the reader hanging. I needed more.
