review 1: Ezekiel Cooper of Clayton, Tennessee loses his beloved, mentally challenged brother in a mysterious drowning accident which changes his life and outlook forever. His marriage disintegrates, his mother while battling cancer, is still distant......Zeke makes a run for the mountains and attempts to kill himself and his dog, Tucker, but fails. Eventually he winds up at the home of his Virginia cousins where he begins to re-build a life for himself and his family.
review 2: Basically, I enjoyed the story. Its setting is in a fictional West Tennessee town that sounds very much like my husband's hometown of Savannah, TN. I think the book had a little trouble trying to decide which one of the female love interests for the main character, Zeke to promote. Also, sometime
... mores it seemed like it was trying a little bit to be too Southern. (RC colas and moonpies, for example in 1985 sections.) The book teases you along for a long time about what happened to twin brother Carter, and it was a bit anti-climatic when it was finally revealed. However, all in all, it was an enjoyable read. less
