review 1: This book does a great job of showing that no matter where we come from, we're all the same. This is especially true for children, who all need laughter, love, friends, etc. While it's not one of my favorite picture books, I'm looking forward to reading it along with a few other for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day next month. It definitely delivers the message that, although we look different, we are all human beings.
review 2: In "By Day, By Night," children around the globe rise, eat, play, work, and sleep in sync with one another. The beautiful artwork in this book that accompanies the rhythmic text makes this book stand out. The pages are filled with children who represent the plethora of colors, ethnic backgrounds, and races that make up the world at large.
... more The colorful geographical attributes of each illustration will encourage discussion about the bigger world. The rhyme and rhythm that fills the text makes By Day, By Night a fun read aloud. Children ages 3-8 will enjoy studying the brightly colored illustrations and hearing the predictable rhythm of the text. Read. Enjoy. Share. less
