Review: Thanks For the Trouble by Tommy Wallach

Synopsis:

Parker Santé hasn’t spoken a word in five years. While his classmates plan for bright futures, he skips school to hang out in hotels, killing time by watching the guests. But when he meets a silver-haired girl named Zelda Toth, a girl who claims to be quite a bit older than she looks, he’ll discover there just might be a few things left worth living for.

“In my opinion, the best time to be alive is always right now.”

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Thanks for the Trouble was a book which I was really looking forward to reading and it certainly did not disappoint. Having read the author’s debut novel, We All Looked Up back in 2015, I was so looking forward to what he had in store.

This book takes place over the course of a weekend. Despite the short timeline, the book was filled with so many meaningful stories including short stories where Parker wrote.

Parker has been through a traumatic incident early in his life which caused his speech issues. I liked his skepticism on Zelda and how he didn’t just believe every word she said which made him so realistic.

He is a different character and so unique as he writes in notebooks and tells stories. As for the second major character, Zelda– she is definitely someone I would love to get to know and hang out with.

She was the life of the book and if I met someone like her, I would probably write a book about her as well!

I loved both of them. It was completely fun with scenes including shopping sprees and spending their time at parties. I was so sad to reach the end of the book but the lessons learned over the course of the weekend was so worthwhile.

It all adds up to the amazing cover this book represents. Of the soul of that very bridge linking them together.

Thank you to Pansing Books for sending me Thanks for The Trouble in exchange for an honest review!
