review 1: This book had to be the best one that I've ever read. It mostly has girl drama and how being in the top of the popularity group isn't as nice as it can seems. Once you get into the book, it can make you feel like you are actually inside of it when you're actually not. The book is mostly about a girl, April Bowers, her best friend had left last year and she was completely invisible to everyone else. Then her luck changes when she has Britney Taylor, the most popular girl in the school, as her partner in P.E. Britney soon invites April to her table at lunch, where they play Rank- A-Shank. After a month, April finds that she is qualified for the Lipstick Laws. Once in this position, she is able to bask in popularity and get any guy she wants, the guy she wants (Mr. Hottie-Bo... moredy). However, if April decides to break one of the seven lipstick rules, she'll be worse than the most unpopular kid in school. This I a book that I recommend to anyone that likes dramatic books over boys, popularity, finding real friends, and romance.
review 2: The Lipstick Laws is a young adult novel written in by Amy Holder, taking place in present time. I would recommend this book for teenage girls, because they could relate best to it. The protagonist is April Bowers, a girl who struggles to fit in, and the antagonist is Britney Taylor who makes April’s life miserable. After April’s best friend Haley moved away she was left without a single friend. In Aprils struggles to fit in, she fell into the group of Lipstick Law lords, popular but mean girls. At first April though her new friends were great, but as time went on her opinion changed after they pressured her into doing things that she did not want to be a part of. After Britney kicked April out of the group, Britney made sure to ruin her life. With the support of April’s best friend Haley, April started a group of girls who had also been kicked out of the Lipstick Laws. This group was called the Lipstick Law breakers, and their mission was to destroy Britney Taylor. Britney Taylor was not always the popular, mean spirited person she had become. When Britney was younger she did not have a perfect appearance and when her parents got divorced her self-consciousness sky rocketed. Britney later transformed body and life to what every girl dreamed of. She had a constant fear of loosing all that she had gained so she created the Lipstick laws to protect herself from ever getting hurt again. The laws were harsh and were hard to maintain, but if you wanted to be Britney’s friend you needed to follow them down to the last word. The laws varied from not being able to gain more than three pounds to having to look in a mirror every hour to adjust your makeup and hair. The “Lipstick Laws” show how anxious some girls are to fit in, and how they would do anything to do so. I would hope that any teen that reads this novel learns at least one thing, you should never change who you are to be accepted. less

Although I never knew of 16 year olds who rule the school, I still found this book a good read
