review 1: This is a very neat book for young children because it is showing different ways that objects can be looked at. Basically one image can be looked at in multiple ways or viewpoints. This particular book focuses on figuring out the image of a duck or a rabbit. All throughout the book the author argues that the image is a duck and then argues back, no it's a rabbit. In one picture, we can see both a bill for a duck and long ears for a rabbit. I really like how this book allows the reader to decide which animal the book actually is referring too, it never tells them what it actually is supposed to be. I would use this book in my classroom to talk about inferences and how everyone has their own opinion or theory about what the book is talking about. I would encourage my student... mores to make their own inferences throughout the book. I could also bring the arts into the classroom with this book and show the students other examples of books or drawings that two conclusions come out of one image. Then I would have them try to draw or come up with their own.
review 2: This story is about an argument two individuals have over whether the picture on the page resembles a duck or a rabbit. Each person makes points for their side of the argument but the decision is ultimately up to the reader. This book would be an excellent choice to use as a read aloud in a preK-1st grade classroom. The students can interact with the text and form their own opinions about whether the illustration is of a duck or a rabbit. less

A complex lesson about perspective, taught in a kid-appropriate, fun and simple way.

I see the rabbit more than a duck. The illustrations really make the story.
