review 1: This book is well-written, well-researched and absorbing. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I felt that a lot of the information and even examples have been covered by other mainstream feminist texts, such as "Manifesta," "When Everything Changed" and of course Bitch Magazine (of which Zeisler is a co-founder). However, this is a great primer for anyone developing an interest in feminist critique of pop culture.
review 2: Well, it is good in a general way. Yet it is also limited because it is general. It is a good overview or general introduction. Short and sweet but definitely an interesting introduction to feminism in the media.
