review 1: I wish this had been better. While it was well-written, it was actually over-written. I felt like I was slogging through a lot of description to get to the plot. About 100 pages too long. And the while family secrets are revealed along the way, the lead-up to the "big secret" drags on so long and is so clearly foreshadowed, I don't see how anyone - including the characters of the book - could have not cottoned on sooner.
review 2: After reading the reviews I was looking forward to reading this book, but it has been a great disappointment. It is slow moving, it keeps going forwards and backwards. It is difficult to follow who is saying what and I kept having to read back some of the pages. The story drags on and on and the end is far from exciting. On the po... moresitive side, the narrative is well written, so some talent there. However, the book, in my view, was not worth reading. less
