review 1: I wish this had been better. While it was well-written, it was actually over-written. I felt like I was slogging through a lot of description to get to the plot. About 100 pages too long. And the while family secrets are revealed along the way, the lead-up to the "big secret" drags on so long and is so clearly foreshadowed, I don't see how anyone - including the characters of the book - could have not cottoned on sooner.
