review 1: I like the Arabian nights because there's so many great aspects that makes you want to keep reading until the end. There was one story that I found funny in a way. It's called the merchant and the genius, and in that story, the merchant was threatened by a genius because the merchant killed his son, but the merchant had no idea and he asked for one more year of life, and this was when I thought he was gonna use the opportunity to go off the grid so that he won't get chopped up into little sticky pieces. But he kept his word and waited for him, and while he does that, two old guys join him. And then the genius arrived. To cut things short, the genius ends up sparing his life. What the heck!? You made this guy go home and made his wife and daughter cry about this, wait a whol... moree freakin year, and sell his stuff, just for you to spare him!!? But I digress, this really is a good story and I recommend this to anybody.
review 2: I really enjoyed this collection. I think the general morality of the stories - i.e. good things happen to good people (and vice versa) - plays out better than in Western traditional tales (e.g. Grimm) and there's more focus on the heroes using their wits rather than magic to solve dilemmas, though there's plenty of that too! It was nice that the girls often led the way, as well. I hope Scheherazade managed to keep her head after all that story-telling... less

tl;drJust not what I was expecting. Hard to follow, kind of dull.

This version is missing the ending. Seems an odd bit to leave out!

Some stories I haven't heard before. Very diverting.

Classic tales that have lasted the test of time.
