review 1: Huh. Where to begin. I've never read a book translated from Icelandic (that I know of)...the translation seemed to be done well. Apparently, however, not only are vowels hard to come by in Icelandic (thankfully they were translated), but paragraph breaks are also apparently in short supply in Icelandic and did not make the trip. Greeted by occasional page long walls of text meant I did not read this a fluidly or quickly as I might have liked. There are a some amazingly cool and original sci-fi type concepts at play here but it is ultimately stained by the ending which felt like it did not belong with the rest of the work. Solid three stars. Some parts were a solid 4.
review 2: Very imaginative. Brings up very relevant, pertinent issues in a really great
... more, wondrous, alarming way. The author is actually extremely prescient; he wrote this over 10 years ago apparently (just got translated into English) but a lot of the society he depicts is eerily like what google & other technophiles are pushing towards ... Sometimes the translation was confusing; think some of it got lost. Original book, poetically written. less

This is a great dystopian novel in the vein of something Vonnegut would write.
