Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase
review 1: The second in a non-stop archeology adventure. This time Nina is after the Tomb of Hercules. It starts out sort of awkwardly, as it transitions from the previous book where all the Atlantis sites were destroyed. There’s lot of good chase scenes in this book, but so many major things going on, I got confused as to how each connected to the others. It probably would have helped to have a breather, so that the reader's mind could catch up on what was happening Even though she understand why Atlantis has to be kept secret, Nina is devastated. Her new post IHA at takes both of them out of the field. While she researches her next discovery, she has to smooze with the big wigs. Eddie’s bored just sitting at a desk and doesn’t feel comfortable at the fancy parties. Th... moreat’s when the problems begin in Nina and Eddie’s relationship. They begin to grow apart and neither one is willing to see the other side. Nina and Eddie’s first couple fight. Eddie’s main problem here is bringing his ex into the equation. He’s supposed to be Nina’s bodyguard but he goes traipsing off after his ex and leaves Nina to rescue herself. He should never have brought the ex to their apartment or allow her to get between Nina and him. At the least, tell Nina about her and their past, hiding things from your mate is never is a good idea. But he does learn that later. Men. Always slow on the uptake. Since Nina has to trust in her own devices, she proves to be and is just as resourceful as Eddie. I know it’s probably partly due to Eddies training and example, but she has to be capable and smart enough to figure out what to do by herself. The best part for me was how the ten trials of Hercules are reenacted in the tomb. My favorite is the apples of Hesperides. Mainly because it requires more steps and finesse, than just destroying something. I wish I could have seen them go through the earlier trials, but it would have been too time consuming and dangerous. And I’m glad some people, other than Nina and Eddie, actually survive to the end of the book. Of course one is in a coma, but it counts. Speaking of destroying things, that’s the best way to tell the bad guys from the good. They have no regard for the historical or natural beauty of things. They just want money, power and will destroy or kill anything in their way. Using any methods they have to. It’s alright for them to get revenge, but if we retaliate back, we’re in the wrong. Quick Thoughts: 1)Why do the bad guys always break the stained glass windows? Don’t they know how hard it is to make them? To get the colors just right, cut the glass without breaking it, then attached them together with lead solder? 2)Here we’ve got an oil rig, a mining truck, another expensive boat and a submersible destroyed. 3)Eddie and Sophia’s slide down the building reminds me of Taylor Lautner in his movie: Abduction. 4)Sophia is really a piece of work. It’s amazing that Eddie survived her. Probably because didn’t have enough money and influence. Fave scenes: Nina’s escape with the book, driving the mining truck, the attack at Mac’s house and escaping from the bomb.
review 2: Seriously?AN ANCIENT WARRIOR.AN INCREDIBLE TREASURE.A LETHAL ENEMY.This book just "mentioned" the first two in about 10% of the book way past half of the novel! Tomb of Hercules? Bah! Right. This has more uselesa action sequences than actual story. Take all that gory detail out and it'll leave you with half the number of pages. I was expecting more of Hercules not Nina-Eddie-Sophia love triangle. less
