review 1: And it all starts to come together. The plots and schemes from the previous books may have seemed isolated, but in this book they start to intertwine and become one. As to this story, oppression is oppression no matter how you nicely you package it. And killing even a small % of the world population to ‘change and improve’ the rest is unacceptable. This is another exciting storyline, but there’s not as many explosions and we’re starting to see a lot of the same bad guy characters over and over. And having the bad guys conveniently show up just after Nina and Eddie figure out the traps is getting too predictable. Unfortunately we again lose some well-loved characters, but also some not-so-loved. And also unfortunately some frustratingly obnoxious characters j... moreust won’t go away. Quick Thoughts: 1)I find myself so angry at Eddie, just as Nina does, that I have to take a break between books. 2)In Morocco, Eddie used the same trick that NCIS’ DiNozzo used a couple of seasons ago. 3)You can’t judge a ‘bad guy’ by his cover. Ha Ha. 4)This final discovery location is different. After being underwater, in the desert, on an English hillside, in Antarctica, another desert, the Tibet Mountains and the Amazon forest, we now end this story in a volcano! What’s next? 5)And all the sites seem to get destroyed except for Excalibur and the Inca Pyramid. Mechanical destruction tally: a ‘killdozer’, an Alouette helicopter, a wind turbine, a helicopter, the top fourth of a 50-story building, 30-ft crane, 3 military trucks, 6+ Humvees, 2 exploratory submersibles, a snowmobile, a Landrover and an AW101 helicopter. Fave scenes: Eddie’s Ninja fight, escaping area 51, the hammer trap and the parachute jump.
review 2: The version that I read was originally titled Return to Atlantis. I had previously read Hunt for Atlantis and had enjoyed it very much, so I wanted to read the sequel. I enjoyed the interaction of the two main married characters, Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase, in this book as much as I did in the 1st. The action is continuous with twists and turns throughout. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action/adventure. less
