review 1: This was the first Andy McNab novel I've read. It was lent to me and reading the synopsis I did not think I was going to enjoy it. However I was pleasantly surprised. It was fast paced, an easy but interesting read. It's the type of book that I would have said was aimed mainly at men but somehow it's enjoyable no matter what you're gender. Although it's got plenty of spy's, war, weaponry, violence, drugs and various types of trafficking but it wasn't too technical and never went in depth enough to make you disinterested! Definitely worth a read. I also didn't find it hard to read this as a one off having not read the rest of the series first
review 2: This was my first Andy McNab novel-and it will probably be my last.I'm afraid I simply found his writing style
... moreand use of language jarring-and overly basic in places too.His obvious talent for spinning a yarn almost rescued the book for me,especially as he could clearly also draw on his own experience of action and combat, but in the end,for me, it could not save the story itself from his writing style. less
