review 1: Ethan Tyrell is a young man who has been in and out of jail most of his life. He’s recently arrived at a Scholastic Honor’s Program, where he feels out of place – especially among his study group. He fingers himself working with twins Julian and Memory as well as Faye. As the group continues to work together, they learn secrets about themselves and their school.I was a little reluctant to get into this book once I saw that the main characters were teenagers, but I am glad I picked it up anyway. This book gets off to a slightly slow start but it’s definitely worth the read. The story is very unique and well researched. The characters are real and easy to relate to. Good luck putting it down once things really get going. I highly recommend this and will be seeking ou... moret other books by this author.
review 2: I went through a period of reading a lot of YA/ NA dystopian/ fantasy about a year ago and read so many dull, pedantic ones that it put me off of the whole genre. I gave this one a go because I know both of the authors and I know they're talented. And they did not disappoint! The mythology/ supernatural elements were so skillfully and subtly woven into the story. At no point did I feel like I was getting an info-dump or a history lesson. Every tidbit was revealed naturally to the reader as one of the characters discovered it.The relationship between Memory and Ethan likewise felt real and organic. Such an enjoyable read! less
