review 1: This is a lovely book about kindness and helping someone in need even when it doesn't suit you. Owl is hurt and can't fly home, so he petitions the animals in the forest to let him stay in their homes for just one night each, while he mends. Each animal is a bit apprehensive, as we know that Owls with their big talons can be quite the predators, but the animals share their homes and food. Owl finally heals and on Christmas Eve, returns to thanks each animal with gift perfectly suited to them. Thus begins a tradition of the Christmas Owl, as he visits his friends each year with a gift, to remember the kindness they showed in his time of need. I really enjoyed the Christmas Owl, with its old time illustrations and gentle message. Another lovely book by Angela Muse that I w... moreill definitely recommend for Christmas.NB I received the book as part of a book blast in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: Book Description:“A Barred owl becomes injured and must ask others for help. He promises to give back to those who have a generous heart and he is true to his word.”A sweet rhyming story filled with beautifully illustrated drawings. The nice rhyming sentence structure made it a great choice for children to follow along with. A worthy lesson at the end about helping those in need and giving back to those with a generous heart. A perfect holiday choice for read aloud up to second grade. Most of the children have seen all the animals on the farms. They really enjoyed the illustrations and some said they looked very life like. The touching drawing of the mallard duck and owl gazing together into the sunset was a favorite of the class I shared this story with. The learning lesson sparked a great discussion - it’s ok to ask others for help. They liked how the animals were rewarded for showing kindness, compassion and pity and that owl acknowledged each individual for their show of kindness and generosity. less

This was a pretty good book. The illustration were a bit too large for my Kindle.
