review 1: A fantastic collection of books reminiscent of the Harry Potter ideal, but distinctive and fun to read. The more I delved into the books, the more entranced I became with the world Sage created.One interesting point for me was the length of time each book spanned, which in essence was not very long. Instead of taking years to come to the end of the series, it was more the matter of a year or two. Though one book takes us back a few years...or more like 500 years.This will definitely entice a younger reading audience, say 9 or 10 on up.
review 2: I highly recommend this series for upper elementary through high school libraries. I am currently half way through the fifth book, Syren. This series will appeal to fans of Harry Potter, but portrays its own unique worl... mored of magical culture, history and humor. The size of the books (500+ pages) will intimidate some readers, but the writing is not overly difficult. I would expect a movie to be in the works any time now. less
