review 1: I'm still not sure if Anitra is Joyee Flynn....but I REALLY like swimming in her imagination. Some of her work is pure crack-fic! Most of her plots are ri-fing-diculous but they are fresh, just deep enough and entertaining as hell *shrugs* the second book in this series is expected to be released in a few days and I'm definitely buying it for more Blessed.P.s. honey this cover is God AWFUL....just saying....
review 2: Random comments - spoilers possible: I had a hard time understanding and visualizing Blessed's genitals. They were...weird. I wasn't exactly sure how things worked. At least they were alien-like, though. Often aliens in books like these are totally human in just about every aspect, which seems like a cop-out at times. I wasn't really a fan of the
... more name Blessed Despair, though I do understand the meaning of it as Blessed explained. Tyler was said to be one of the first Earthlings to be abducted and sold. How than did they have the English language on their translators that Tyler was implanted with -- how could Tyler's English be translated so Blessed could understand them? Seemed unlikely. Blessed talked in a way that was too human. I suppose we were hearing (reading) things how Tyler had them translated to him, but still. It seemed a bit off. I would have expected a being that was emotionally contained, a warrior, etc would have spoken more formally or something. at least at first. I wish there was an explanation as to whole the room changed colors with the dominant person's mood. Why? Is that with all species or just a Krase warrior. It's a little plot detail, but since the colors changing was mentioned a few times, I wondered more about it. And what the colors meant. Black = aroused and possibly in love? That's all I gathered. The cover totally does not reflect the characters. LOL. I thought Tyler and Blessed fell in love too quickly. Tyler seemed to have feelings for him from the first and got depressed when the feelings weren't returned. I suppose being abducted and sold to an alien one should make the most of the situation, but I felt he gave in too fast. The book was lacking something for me, a depth or something. I can't really put my finger on it. It wasn't the worst I've read of the kidnapped by aliens to be a (sex) slave trope, but it chould have been better. less
