review 1: I so wanted to like this book more and give it more stars. I can't quite figure out where it went wrong--the premise is good. But the book was flat for me. In fact, I ended up skimming pages, which I rarely do. I just found myself feeling bored and thinking the book is ho hum. I guess I was never drawn in nor felt the characters were real or someone I'd want to know. Kind of like Aunt Ruma's phone calls (was that her name? I have the book in front of me but can not be bothered to look) that never said anything and were always cut short before you had any sense of why she called. The story came across as superficial. And the lack of transition to the last chapter didn't do it any favors.
review 2: "This is a light weight story, written almost like a fairy tale.
... moreBanerjee's writing style, though, is not light weight, but enjoyable and very easy to read. I did not want to put this down. If you have been a book lover your entire life, as many of us have, there are so many enjoyable details in this story. If I can go anywhere for an hour, it is a bookstore and I only wish that the one profiled in this book was real." less

Carino, ma non emozionante. Non è riuscito a trasportarmi come avrei voluto. Voto reale 3 e 1/2.
