review 1: I should have known by the title that this was not going to be ordinary fiction, and it wasn't! A bit of fantasy woven through the book made for a lovely story. Under regular circumstances I don't like fantasy but being that it was all about a book store, the books and the home in which they were housed and sold, just hooked me and kept me that way. So, a lovely story about Auntie Ruma a bookseller and her spirit author friends, who were names you'd all know, who guided and spoke with her. And then there's Jasmine, the niece. She was in LA for so long she had forgotten about those spirit voices who spoke to her when she was very young. Now they are back, guiding her to a new chapter in her life. Ha!
review 2: Carino, ma pur apprezzando io il fantastico e ... moreil surreale non l'ho trovato particolarmente convincente. La protagonista, inoltre, mi è stata antipatica per la maggior parte del libro, e l'ho trovata davvero dura di comprendonio. Che la libreria avesse qualcosa di strano si è capito subito, e pure cosa avesse di strano, l'unica che non ci arriva è lei. La zia poi dovrebbe essere randellata, per come la molla lì ad arrangiarsi senza dirle niente.Tra il fastidio che mi davano i personaggi (gli unici che mi sono piaciuti sono proprio gli autori che "tornano in vita") e il fatto che non sono riuscita a "sospendere la mia razionalità e a credere a quanto mi veniva raccontato" la lettura mi è risultata piuttosto faticosa nonostante la leggerezza del racconto.Come detto carino, ma dimenticabile. less
