review 1: This is more a story about the power of Girlfriend's friendship than a Christmas story, but it is set at Christmas and each chapter is about another person in the club. Each year, they gather the first Monday of December with 13 dozen cookies. One for each member and the 13th for a charity. I have been blessed with great girlfriends so I related to the idea of being there for each other thru marriage, death, infidelity, divorce, infertility, man trouble, kid trouble, etc. etc. If it was not for profanity in the book, I would have rated it higher. I don't like people to drop the F-bomb anytime but especially not in a Christmas story!
review 2: This was a good book to start out the Christmas season for me! It definitely was more of an "old lady" novel simply b
... moreecause all the characters were between 40-60 years old, but it was still a fun read. Though I couldn't connect to their struggles and past history, I loved the overall theme of friendship and unity. It did make me want to start my own cookie club! Maybe when I'm settled somewhere permanently :) less

I found the beginning of this book to be very depressing.
