review 1: This book is one of the best love stories I've read in a long time. Both Clen and Gerrum have had love and lost, but they find that true love is real, even if it takes them a long journey to find it.Clem's growth during this novel was raw and deep. It's never easy to stop believing you aren't worth better because of things in your past. Her journey didn't happen overnight, and her scars are real, but she gets past them. The religious undertones throughout are quite subtle, and not preachy. I don't read much Christian lit, but this novel had just enough to convey the message without screaming from the pulpit.Read it. You won't be disappointed.
review 2: I entered (and won) the goodreads giveaway for Absence of Grace because of it taking place mainly in Alaska. I
... morelove finding books set anywhere in Alaska.Anyway, I really enjoyed the book. All the characters were well written and likeable (except when they weren't meant to be liked) Clen was a great character and someone who probably reminds a lot of people of themselves or someone they are close to. The romance between Clen and Gerrum kept me guessing the entire time and made me really happy to see them end up together after all that happened. less
