review 1: Very unique Amish fiction book - very believable. I was truly intrigued by Hester from the very beginning of the book. She carries a lot of baggage as does John. As both work through their baggage alone and with the unwanted help of friends, they find themselves with more in common than they realized. There is a hint of romance, a lot of mystery, much drama, and a smattering of action. This books offers something for everyone!
review 2: I really had a hard time with this book. The main characters hated each other for over half of the book. I got more enjoyment reading about Samuel and Rosalyn's romance than I did about Hester and John's. Not that they weren't good characters, but it took them too long to change. And I think John changed more than Hester. W
... morehat did he see in her? Because he certainly didn't like that she "worked" too much. He admired her spirit, but made it clear she was not the woman for him. So why did he love her? Maybe it is just me, but I just didn't enjoy reading this book. less
