review 1: Somewhat of a continuation of, or return to, Autobiography of Red, Red Doc> is a little less accessible than its predecessor, though that doesn't necessarily make it less enjoyable. Personally, I like Autobiography of Red more than this one, for its cohesiveness as a whole and its narrative clarity, but Red Doc> has some strong, memorable lines ("You could take the entirety of the common sense of humans and put it in the palm of your hand and still have room for your dick.").
review 2: I love Anne Carson's writing, and this book did not disappoint. Not as accessible as The Autobiography of Red, so it won't be for everyone, but I found it very compelling. Sweet, sad, funny, I did not want it to end. In fact, I was kind of startled when it ended, I was not ready
... moreto leave the world the book created for me. (Maybe I should write some fan fiction: 50 shades of Red, anyone?)(just kidding! But I wouldn't be sorry if these characters persuaded Anne Carson to write some more about them...) less
