review 1: Ok, I really wanted to just be crazy about this book, but sadly I did not like this one as well as the first one. The author changed the POV to the female main character Lily, instead of keeping it from Calder's POV. I really liked the characters in the first book, and enjoyed the fact that Lily was not a weeping, fickle teenager; however, this novel took a turn and had quite a bit of teen angst that took away from her strong character. On the other hand, Lily did still remain true to herself by standing her ground and doing things her way, despite her angst. The mystery aspect of this novel was good, and kept you guessing until the very end as to who (or what) the murderer was. I can't wait to read the finale!
review 2: It's a good sequel, though I really
... morewished that Calder narrated it, and not Lily. Lily came across as okay in the first book, but in this, she was all "me, me, me", *shakes head*. At least by the end, she snaps out of it and is able to stop being so self-centered. Is it because she thinks she's so deeply in love with Calder that she was acting so selfish? Then again, she's a teenager who isn't exactly sure what being in love is. I guess I'm reading a little too much into this, it is just fiction after all, but I hope in the next book she'll grow up a little. less
