review 1: Sudano tutti, copiosamente, a Oslo. Dentro, perché il riscaldamento va a palla. Fuori, nonostante la temperatura non proprio mite, perché si affannano tutti come matti. Si suda parecchio anche a terminarla, questa storia inutilmente contorta fino alle ultime trenta pagine. Il giallo nordico continua a soffrire di un incurabile virus: la cronica assenza di suspence e l'irrilevanza dei protagonisti.
review 2: Enjoyed this - the first in this series, but only recently translated into English. It was written nearly 20 years ago, so a chance to note how things have changed (no computers, and a typewriter plays a prominent part - one part of the story revolves around a paper version of a statement being removed from a file before a copy can be made. Times have chan... moreged!) There was clever if sneaky twist (you think you know who the bad older man is!) Strangely, as seems to happen quite often, the name of one of the characters has been changed on the cover of the verion I read. Are publishers' blurbs taken down over the phone? Hans E. Olsen, not "Hansa Larsen"! anyway, I look forward to reading more of these, although availability seems a bit patchy in English (the 8th in the series is widely available, complete with spoilers all over the place if you haven't read the intervening ones.
