review 1: Sadly after reading dragongirl and dragonheart this came as a huge dissapointment to me. Todd just seems to have really messed up with this one with the going through time business and all.I was never amazed by the events and the conversations never really went on they just seemed to stop (as usuall from Todd) and I dread the fact that Todd will finish off the this whole epic series rather than Anne who in my opinion has the total right to complete her life's work. Though Todd may be an excellent writer he certainly is not on the same level of writing as his mom. cheers,Junayd
review 2: I hate hate hate to give such a low rating to a Pern book (esp one co0written by Anne) but I was really disappointed by this. It was really disjointed - all the time travel was
... morereally confusing (I was never really sure where in time the characters were) it just seemed to be a Deux Ex Machina for all and every problem the characters had. There was too much focus on the pregnancies of Fiona and Lorana, the polygamous relationships and 'foretelling'. I was actually quite irritated by this - even more so that the dragons suddenly appear to be happy to let others ride them - something that is NOT canon in the original books. In the past dragons have gone between when their riders died because of the intense bond of the Impression, now they seem to be willing to let anyone hop on and take a ride - even the queens! For me the only part I enjoyed about this book was the founding of Eastern Weyr - and even that had its share of problems; everything was very easy for them - and the Eastern Islands are not shown on the topographical map as shown by the Dawn Stars in Dragonsdawn - so where did this island suddenly come from???All in all a very disappointing book that just didn't seem to go anywhere! Only worth a read to complete the Pern series - borrow from the library rather than wasting the money on buying it! less

What a jumbled piece of crap this book turned out to be. Started off good, ended very poorly.

I love the series. The names got a little confusing at times.
