review 1: This was an enjoyable start to a new series, A Pet Boutique Mystery. Izzy had a long term plan with her high school sweetheart that included a career in the fashion industry for her and a career in plastic surgery in New York City for Casey. But after returning to their hometown Merryville for Casey's residency, the plan hit a snag with Casey leaving for New York City with a young dietician instead of Izzy. After feeling sorry for herself for two years, Izzy finally develops a new plan, to open a pet boutique with fashion designed pet clothes. The grand opening is set and everybody who is anybody in Merryville is in attendance, but unfortunately the town's local activitist, Sherry, has decided to picket outside the new store. Even more unfortunate is the fact that shortly ... moreafter the ending of the festivities, Sherry's dead body is found in the nearby alleyway. And worse, Izzy's best friend, Rena, is a prime suspect in the murder investigation. Deciding that she needs an attorney, Rena contacts their childhood friend, Sean, the friend that professed his love to Izzy right before she left town with Casey. Can Izzy and Sean put aside their hurt feelings and resentment and help Rena maintain her innocence? I loved the main characters in this story and their animal friends, including the Rena's ferret, Val...what a novel change from the usual cat and dog sidekicks. My only complaint is I wanted a happier ending for Gandhi. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
review 2: Paws for Murder is the first book in a new series. The cover is what caught my eye and then being an animal lover, I was not going to pass up the book. I am so glad that I started it. Even though there are "animals" in this series, you do not have to be an animal lover to enjoy the book. The characters are all unique and I cannot wait to see where the author takes them.I will look forward to the second book. less
