Mistress of the Art of Death
review 1: 3rd of series Mistress of the Art of Death. King Henry II wants Adelia to go to Glastonbury (which had just burned down) to check out the skeletons found there. Supposedly "Arthur and Guiniviere". They turn out to be 2 males--the Abbott's son and lover that he killed before becoming Abbott. The innkeeper's wife was crazy and helped the abbott try and cover it up by 1) trying to bury her in the dug up grave site 2) locking her in the inn's cellar/tunnel.The king wants them to be Arthur so pilgrims will come so will $. She did really find Arthur's skeleton and sword and he's good with that.Meanwhile, her friend Emma and boy were "lost"--the widow mother-in-law had them raided/killed/raped on the road. The Abbott hid them on the leper island and killed himself and innkeeper wi... morefe in the quick sand.
review 2: Lovely book, and I enjoyed Adelia as always, but the ending kind of made me wince a bit. The storyline regarding Glastonbury is amazingly interesting, and I found myself staying up until 1 AM researching its history after finishing this book. (oops) One of the characters, Mansur, mentions the feeling of being on holy ground there, and I'm just interested to see it for myself! This book is plotted very well and has an ominous feel throughout. less

Enjoying this series - other than the profanity. Fun plots and okay with side romance.
