review 1: In Office of Mercy we are caught up in the struggles of a future America where civilization has moved into underground bunkers and "sweep" the indigenous people still living on the surface in an attempt to eliminate all suffering. I liked some of the plot twists even if they were hinted at so often that they became obvious. My only real complaint was the ending.....I felt it was somewhat unfinished but not in a way that suggested a sequel....just unfinished.
review 2: While I appreciated the author's attempt to strongly show the way in which people can justify anything in the name of "ethics" and her unconventional ending, I felt this book was only okay. The setting and situation didn't feel particularly unique to me and neither did the characters (which felt m
... moreostly two dimensional). There was a lot of exposition about the world and the history of the new Americas, not to mention the Ethical Code and background of their belief systems. I wish this had come about more organically. The dialogue was often filled with this exposition in a less than believable way. At times there was an interesting bit of tension and mystery that made me want to find out what happened... but then the climactic moment didn't have a real sense impact. less

Sounds like it's based off of Brave New World, but then kind of ruins it.
