review 1: During the summer I read “ Colin Fischer “ a book about a young boy with Asperger’s who is very self-reserved and vulnerable. Colin can't stand being touched, hates the color blue and uses index cards to recognize facial expressions. But when a gun goes off during someone’s birthday in the cafeteria, Colin is determined to find the guilty suspect. To me I think that this book was something I can relate to in some ways. The fact that Colin keeps a journal to write down anything unsuspecting shows you that he’s very thorough . This is a easy read in the point of view of a kid that is very determined. Many kids can find things in their life that are similar to what Colin is going through . This book is a mix of two different genres, mystery and realistic fiction. ... moreIt's good for people who like more interesting books.
review 2: Thanks to a good friend (Thanks, Kelli!) an avid reader who sent me this book, I was able to enter the clever mind of Colin Fischer, who uses his skills of observation and his eclectic knowledge to solve a mystery at his school. It was a slow start to me, but I was soon engaged by Colin and his attempts to make it through middle school, which is a difficult time for anyone, even more so for students with Asperger's. I actually found myself reading every single footnote, for they were tidbits of information that I'll probably never use but they sure are interesting tidbits! I like how the authors got into Colin's fascinating mind. However, as we know, if you meet one person with Asperger's, you meet one person with Asperger's. less
