review 1: The plot seemed easy and simple.A race of alien warriors was in need of women as theirs couldn´t conceive daughters and created a vortex between their planet and Earth, to hunt for women. It could have been a good idea if the characters were realistic. The men are supposedly very respectful of the women; treat them as goddess and fragile creature. They are the only ones to be a bit consistent.A bunch of kidnapped virgins (as they have to be pure, or they are worthless) forced to marry an alien within hours of their arrival, with no choice what so ever, no romance neither. It is totally fine for them, they even plan to go and capture more of their female virgin friends to bring them to this new planet. They are supposed to be virgins with character, that didn´t find the man... more of their dream in earth because they are all creeps, weirdos, not manly enough…but an alien that just kidnaped you, told you you were only there to conceive girls and nothing else, and breed more female for the species is totally fine. The enemy is another kingdom that is doomed to disappear because they are all “twisted” and prefer to lay with men…the plot was very very homophobic. The only good points that could have saved the book were totally ignored…a new land? The matriarchal hierarchy? A new specie? I was very disappointed by the end and by the development of the situation.
review 2: This ebook was chosen as one of my in-between reads while waiting for release day and my pre-orders. I was quite surprised with this free anthology read by Autumn Dawn. While the subject matter of the story is not a normal choice of my readimg material I have been impressed enough to possibly purchase the earlier stories of the Dark Lands series but will be sure to purchase future books. Dark Warriors: A Dark lands Anthology contains book 5 & 6 of the series, sci-fi romance. Ghost in Her Heart: Dark Lands Book 5The quintisential geek, Vana had never had a lover. The ultimte warrior, Dagon had never had a wife. Thanks to a rift in space, she's about to become both.A virus decimated the female population of Beasts, surviving females only produced male offspring. As I haven't read the previous books of the series I am not sure why this virus would be released because it effected all females of this world. Because of this shortage of women the Beast men decided to go to Earth to take back chosen women to marry and be implanted so that they can only produce female children to help repopulate their planet. It wasn't the writing that won me over it was the story concept, I really enjoyed Vana's character when she discovered she was removed to an alien planet and the men of the planets reaction to the strong defiant Vana. Dagon was the stubborn alpha male ruler character, it takes a few tests and trials for these two character to come together but there was never any question of that not happening after all it is a romance even if it was suppose to be sci-fi. Vana was a scientist back on Earth and decided once she accepted her new life that she was going to find a cure for the virus plaguing the women's fertility and eventually she do with consequences to herself.Beast Wars: Dark Lands Book 6Dey has a taste for ancient treasure—Keg is the one assigned to guard it. Ancient ziggurats protected by forgotten technology are no match for Dey, but Keg is one challenge she can't dismiss.Sexy and irrepressible, Keg doesn't understand why the woman in the pink snakeskin jacket would swagger around with a gun. With war looming, what better way to keep her out of trouble than to make her his own?Keg is a younger brother to Dagon from book 5 and also the adopted son of Vana because Beast women produced so many male children trying to have a female that they didn't care for them and abandoned them.Dey is human symbioant, she is host to a liquid metal type of creature that protects her and can heal her if injured. Her treasure hunting was mainly in protection of her friend Luna. Keg was sent there as a spy to keep and eye on Luna and Dey. Luna tricks Dey and gets herself caught, as Luna is part Beast she is exiled for 3 years to live with the Beasts and Dey is sentenced to exile in the swamps for a year because of association and shunned for 2 years after returning to her settlement from exile. Dey becomes bitter and do not return at all but because of the war she becomes a hunter of the Beasts.Keg knew Dey was the female for him but could not act on it while investigating her and Luna. When Dey was exiled Keg gave her a transmitter to put on her collar if she got in trouble he would come for her. He figured she would activate the transmitter after a few days but she never did. Keg spent a lot of time searching the swamps for any sign of Dey but never did find any. He had given her up for dead until the day she showed up in a swamp village while the Beasts were rounding up the female women and children. Keg knew he would never let her go again. Dey ends up going with Keg as a captured female and eventually become his wife once she overcomes her distrust of him. Both of these stories wouldn't be rounded without their villains. Dagon and Vana's villain ends up harming Vana and eventually gets caught and executed. Dey has her own villain, a Beast squadron leader. When she seen what he and his troops were doing while capturing a village she decided to hunt them and kill them off until there was only 4 of them remaining. Dey's villain is an important part of the story once she captured and living in Keg's family home. less
