review 1: i read this book over and over again. The story is about young Aya who is fighting for her life. The book is actally her diary that good published while she was in hospital. Aya wrote the diary as she was dealing with a disease that was making it increasingly difficult for her to move her arms or legs, and gradually she looses the ability to speak. Her diary tells about the suffering experienced not only by her but also by her family also. This story is so sad, but, when you get started you will not be able to stop.
review 2: It’s titled “One Litre of Tears” and you’ll probably cry one litre of tears when you read it.I first watched the Japanese Drama based on this book and it was a very moving one. I wanted to know the real Aya Kito and her real story
... more so I read the book (not the original one because unfortunately I couldn’t find it). It was a very sad story. I was moved by Aya’s courage and how she kept fighting. I really admire that about her because I know that if I were in her shoes I wouldn’t be able to face that disease the way she did. This made me realize that health is a blessing. If you’re a healthy person you really should thank Allah for that. As a medical student, Aya became my motivation to study really hard in order to become a good doctor. There were many quotes that moved me and inspired me a lot. These are some of them: “A baby sits when it’s around eight months old, crawls when it's ten months old, and walks when it's over one year old. I used to walk, then I gradually went back to crawling, and now I'm sitting most of the time! I'm degenerating. And some day, I suppose, I'll be bedridden . . .” (This one makes me so sad :'( It's a cruel disease)"A handicapped person is a human being with the same heart as anyone else. It's not a misfortune if you can't hear, it's just an inconvenience."“What is wrong with falling down? You can always stand up again. If you look up at the sky after falling down, the blue sky is also today stretching limitlessly and smiles at you”“I want to accept the me right now. And live on.Although I will always be hurt by those heartless glances, but also at the same time I understand that gentle glances exist.Even though it’s like this I still want to be here. Because here is, the place where I exist.”“I really don’t want to say things such as ‘I want to go back as how things were before.’ I recognize how I am right now, and I will continue to live on.” -Aya Kito- less
