review 1: DNF! The beginning starts out with so much promise: funny, quarky, not really dark- more dusk. The female MC was humorous and ditsy, and the Male MC was intriguing and reserved(he maintained that edge until I DNFed- go, Daniel! Woot!). I was all, "Hell, yeah, this is going to be a 5 star read." I was excited and smiling and intrigued and IN the story... ...& then there is a shift in the writing style. It went from smooth to chaotic and disjointed. The change is during the week (only a paragraph in the book) between when he tells her to leave and when she stomps back to his house(because that's the rational thing to do when someone tells you to LEAVE)- turning into a psycho. My apologies in advance- I just don't know how to write this without the snarkiness. Sorry. I've read... more all the other reviews and I just don't understand why no one pointed this out: Sofi is the psycho of the pair. She stomps back to his house after the week absence. He vaguely explains why HE WANTS HER OUT OF HIS LIFE. He storms out of his house to get away from her. So instead of leaving, Sofi BAKES cakes and cupcakes. As a girl who bakes... it takes hours to make one batch of cupcakes, let alone several cakes and cupcakes- fully frosted w/inspirational & institutional sayings. Plus, she had to go buy the supplies(which meant she left, and then came back), and then make DIE! DIE! DIE! cupcakes??? Am I missing something here? Did I get the wrong book at this point, did the manuscript get messed up?The catalyst: she hears a phone ringing (in his walk-in closet, in his bedroom, in a jacket pocket with her sonic hearing from the kitchen) all the while she's trespassing like a f'n psycho, baking cakes like Crazy Crocker. A woman answers on the other side (of course)- so she starts making DIE! cupcakes and smashing wine bottles?!? Um, did I miss this commitment talk somewhere between him telling her to get the f out and never come back and the part where he says he's broken... so she takes it upon herself to fix him with DIE cupcakes and drink his booze and smash the bottles in his kitchen?? Did I miss something, here. Where did Sofi go and when is the Priest scheduled for an exorcism visit.Oh, and when he comes back, she has the nerve to ask him where he was?? F'n bloody hell, psycho woman. I'd call the cops on your ass at this point... and then he says, 'that girl was from before I met you...." as in LAST F'n WEEK??!?? I stopped reading after that... I'm so disappointed right now I could cry *pouts* I was really liked it until Sofi went Fatal Attraction. Somewhere in the rest of the book is a bunny in a pot, I just know it.
