Leopard's Spots
review 1: 2.5 starsLevi Travis is a snow leopard shifter who does not feel happy. He lives in a wooded area, surrounded by his family, and has a job he likes, but he misses being loved. He is big and burly, that’s why he plays the dominant role in most of the relationship he’s had. But he secretly craves for submission, he wants to find a partner who can stand against him and force him to submit. When he finds a sexy cougar shifter and shares a scorching sexual encounter in the middle of the forest, he thinks he has finally found what he was looking for, only to be deeply disappointed when the cougar leaves him without even telling his name. Lyndon Hines has been on the run for a long time, although he does not know who or what is chasing him. But after his sexual encounter with... more the hot leopard shifter, he decides to stop running and stay in the area a bit longer. There is nothing special in the place, but he hopes he will encounter the leopard again… And continue the strange thing they started in the forest. He feels deeply bonded to the male, although he hardly knows him. But Lyndon does not know is that his relationship with Levi will not only endanger the leopard’s life but also all his family’s. The story is ok, the characters are likeable, there is a bit of everything: mystery, anguish, humour and romance. And there is lots of sex. It is an average book, I would not consider it a waste of time, but I do not think I’ll re-read it again any time soon. I may be reading the second book in the series, though. Oscar sweet and impetuous character has intrigued me. Who knows? Maybe the series gets better.
review 2: This was an okay read for me. Pretty typical shifter tropes with the mates, this one with a penchant for violent sex that ends in blood (that no one in the family seems to notice huge scabbed over scratches, punctures and bites on their arms, neck, etc, hmmm.) Lyndon is a cougar shifter on the run after someone seems to be stalking him, another cougar shifter. He comes across Levi in the woods (both in cat form) and they shift and have some sex then Lyndon runs leaving Levi a little emo about the whole thing. However Lyndon hangs around town until he finally runs into Levi and then they have amazing sex, repeatedly, with zero recovery time. When the other cougar finds him at Levi's family compound they all band together but there is a show down with the other cougar who seems to be Lydon's half-brother and their uber-wealthy father (who Lyndon didn't know) has pitted his sons against each other as only the remaining son alive will inherit his multi-millions. It was okay, but while Levi was a bit of a subby bottom it was even a bit too sappy for me, which is saying a lot. The next book is younger brother Oscar and I do have a thing for spunky little twinks but I'm not in any great hurry to read it. less
