review 1: I really thought I would love this book but I found it a bland predictable read. The story seemed to lack depth with many flaws. The cheering at the horseshow is one I know has been mentioned in other reviews. I thought the characters could have been explored much more but everything was very superficial and it became quite repetitive. For example Ian's mother-in-law kept alluding to her deceased daughter as his wife but this part of the storyline could have been made much more of. The way the relationships were developed seemed unrealistic to me.
review 2: 3.5 stars. This is a story revolving around the overworked New York architect, Joey. It's a slow and subtle journey, much like the English countryside (the Cotswolds) that Joey finds herself in because of he
... morer latest project, the Stanway House, a home that inspired J.M. Barrie to write Peter Pan. The pacing was a bit too gradual for me, but I liked Zitwer's descriptions of England and the tidbits about Barrie. I particularly enjoyed Joey meeting the J.M. Barrie Ladies' Swimming Society. In fact, those older ladies were some of my favorite characters in the book. Sad to say, the main protagonist, Joey, grated on my nerves at times. She seemed a bit too harsh and modern as the single, career woman (disparaging to her best friend, along with being highly disinterested in the friend's children). It's an interesting novel, mainly because of the themes of true friendship and the cast of the swimming club. Unfortunately, I found the romantic relationship at the center of the novel to be a bit unbelievable. Plus, I felt that the ending was tossed in and didn't really wrap everything up well. less

Ligero y optimista justo lo que necesitaba. Una lectura agradable sin mas transcendencia...
