review 1: 14 year old Elanor is in a car accident, and her mom doesn't survive. She and her dad move and she meets a new friend, Madeline, that she begins to idolize - and then finds out that Madeline is actually her twin sister. Only none of this is true. Except maybe it is? I had to skim (trigger warnings for depression, anxiety, mental health and self-injury), but this is a super creepy and atmospheric novel with an unreliable narrator who doesn't quite have a grasp on reality - except maybe she does. Loaded with questions that never get answered, I feel like there will be a lot of interpretations floating around. Pretty cool. review 2: The plot of the book is an interesting concept, however, I don't think that it was carried out well. The end of the book is very abru... morept and I felt was rushed. I really wanted to like the book, but it wasn't written well. I thought that concept of dying then coming back was a bit far-fetched, being she lives in a world where her mother died, then is miraculously alive to the actual reality where her father died, and Madeline isn't totally real. It wasn't a terrible book, but I didn't enjoy it. less
