review 1: A well researched look at the pharmacuetical industry and how we are misled by them. The author is a physician in the UK, is witty and sarcastic and obviously has an axe to grind. It's eye-opening for anyone who doesn't understand how drug companies operate. It was a very dense book and he makes his points well, but it was just too much reading for me since I already agree with the author on most of the points. I think I have read too many non-fiction books in a row, so I am ready for something lighter!
review 2: Very interesting book - even if you disagree with the points raised by Ben Goldacre, the book will probably encourage you to second-guess the medicine industry as a whole (because you, or someone you know, will interact and be dependent on it at some
... morepoint). The book had varying points of interest, but I think that's part of its strength - it doesn't just appeal to patients, but aims to reach doctors, drug company reps, and journal article reviewers. This book = valuable information. less
