review 1: While I have not read the first book, I absolutely adore this sequel to The Bear's Song. The Bear's Sea Escape follows a papa bear on the biggest adventure(s) of his furry life as he searches for his little bear who had gone missing due to a case of mistaken identity. The text is short and easy to follow, but Benjamin Chaud's illustrations are what caught my eye. I was reminded of a childhood favorite, Where's Waldo?, with the book's illustrations going across the spread. It's a nice treat for the little ones.
review 2: Almost as much fun as its predecessor, The Bear's Song, this picture book follows the same baby bear and its father once winter's chilly temperatures make sleeping above the opera house difficult. After the two find warmth inside, Little Bear ma... morekes a new friend and wanders away. The rest of the book features Papa Bear setting off in hot pursuit as Little Bear travels on a taxi, a train, and a cruise ship to a more exotic--and much warmer--clime. Readers will have a fine time trying to spot Little Bear amid all the details in the illustrations while smiling at all the antics of both bears. This one brought a smile to my lips, and I could picture the parent bear trying determinedly to find his child. Once he has done so, he can settle down for a much-needed nap. less
