review 1: This is a mediocre who-dunnit, with Ms. Groundwater giving us 6 possible suspects to choose from. I was somewhat surprised as to which one she chose, as it seems to me that the choice of murderer would not be politically correct. The book drew us into the world of white-water rafting, and there was some educational value in that. I never got terribly involved with the story, and I give it only a 4 out of 10.
review 2: This murder mystery was very different from a lot of others that I have read. The story was told not through a cops eyes but through a person who was in the middle of the investigation. It made for a very different approach on who did the crime and how it came to that understanding of why it was done in the first place. I really appreciated ... morethat aspect of the book. Plus the other points and stories in the book were just as entertaining as the storyof the crime. I also liked that the hobby of the main character was something that is not heard of unless you are in the area of where the story was based. This is an all around great read. It is the first book I have read by Beth Groundwater and certainly will give some of her other books a chance! less
