review 1: The concept of this book is good--simple, quick, easy recipes with not a ton of ingredients but, I found the 3 recipes I chose to make to be a little underwhelming. I was surprised that some recipes didn't ask for seasoning (salt and pepper) and I think that might be a mistake. I made the Lentil & Feta Salad, Chinese Chicken Noodle Soup, and Farmer Joes. Everything was good, we enjoyed what was made from this book, it just wasn't as awesome as I would like.
review 2: This is a cookbook that I would definitely purchase. This splendid assortment of recipes is something that I would actually make. I loved the introduction of this cookbook, where the author gave us a bit of her history and what inspired her to cook. I was really engrossed by her motivation. She bro... moreke down the simplicity of being able to cook delicious, nutritious meals that were inexpensive and easy to make. She gave a list of cooking utensils, main ingredients you should always have, and a menu.This was a great cookbook. Many times I have read cookbooks and they don't seem to have the pedestrian cook in mind. This was a book that was right in my area of expertise. So many times you have cookbooks that aspire your to cook out of your comfort zone. This one lets you cruise in the middle lane. She had an understanding that some of us (me) would not be comfortable cooking a 5 star meal right away. I think cookbooks like this are encouraging and inspiring to make you want to step up your game.Well done, Ms. Moncel! less
