Racetrack Romance
review 1: I really enjoyed the look behind the scenes of the horse racing world. I liked the characters, and the bit of mystery was intriguing. What I could have done without were some of the cliched romance tropes. I hate it when characters have relationship problems that could be solved if they'd just have one honest conversation with each other. And could we have done with each person claiming they want to "keep it casual" when it is very clear that they don't? I'm going to keep reading this authors books because I really am a romance fan and I'm becoming really interested in horsemanship, but I reserve the right to start flipping pages when the plot mechanics start annoying me.
review 2: All that saved this book from a one star rating was the sweetness of Jessic
... morea's love for Buddy. Mark seemed a man at war with himself in terms of characterization and a lot of times his words were completely out of what I would have expected for how he was described. The bit with the sheik was a bit much and kind of unnecessary, as it seemed like there were too many plots going at once. Parts of this romance were really enjoyable but others were really a turn-off. I do like reading things when horses are involved! less
