review 1: How could I not read a book with "trailer trash" in the title? Although following a common formula (poor girl meets rich guy), Thoroughbreds and Trailer Trash delved much deeper. Our heroine was not only poor, but also scarred from a very flawed childhood, yet she had major redeeming qualities that made you identify with her from the get-go. Our hero was also flawed, with an arrogance that he only slowly grew beyond through the course of the book. The inevitable romantic hurdles didn't feel forced, and my only complaint is that I would have liked an extra chapter tacked onto the end with a bit more data about their happily ever after.The equine therapy center was also fascinating, and I think I enjoyed this glimpse into horse culture even more than the race world I was... more introduced to in another Pettersen book. I'm looking forward to learning more about it (and the secondary characters) in the next book in the series.And, yes, I'm embarrassed to say I played hooky this afternoon to finish the story. So I guess I should stop writing reviews and get back to work....
review 2: I really liked this book.I kept thinking about this book during work. I couldn't get it out of my mind. I worried about the characters and how they would get their HEA. The main character, Jenna, was so real. I was invested in her. I enjoyed watching Jenna and Burke's relationship develop, arguments and fun. A great book. 4.5 for sure! (This book is not really about the horses, so you don't have to be horse crazy to enjoy this. less
