review 1: In some places there were too many statistics, but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have done with all of Bill Bryson's books. I learned so much! It would be nice if he created a volume 2, because there are many more home-related topics that he could write about. The special edition with lots of pictures is worth buying, too, in my opinion. Also, I believe this book would make a great textbook for a high school history class.
review 2: Spoiler alert - daily life in Victorian times was pretty gross. No one better to write about it than one of my favorite authors!
