review 1: The incredible story of heroic proportions. What these man had to endure in this frozen mountain country is totally unknown to most Americans. I would have to say that it stands along side the "Battle of the Bulge" as a test of endurance, fortitude and just plain guts. Unfortunately, the Korean war is pretty much a blank page except for those who have served or take an interest in our military history. After all the movies made about Vietnam, thee has never been one of significance made about the Korean war. Why?
review 2: This book marked the end of books for a while. I knew nothing about the Korean War. And this book recounts the events of the Marines of Fox Company at the Chosen Reservoir in North Korean when the Chinese attacked 30,000 marines and UN troops... more with something like 120,000 and they escaped. I wanted to know specifics of the battle, but this book delved into the gore and the swearing beyond what I needed to hear. So finally I decided it wasn’t the best use of my time. less
