review 1: This poetry books was very interesting because they used one word and wrote a little poem using only the letters in that word. For instance, for the word "friend" the poem was "fred finds ed". I thought this was a very interesting approach. Cognitively, this book would be good to use with developing readers (who at least recognize letters and their sounds) on up because the teacher could provide either the word or the poem and have the students use the letters to either guess what the poem is or make their own. I would recommend this as a fun riddle book, and a way of teaching students how to make anagrams and rebuses.
review 2: I didn't understand this style of poetry with the first few entries. Then I went back and forth between the illustration and the po
... moreem (they are printed front and back). After mulling them over, they are very unique and creative. It's thought provoking and imaginative. How can you create an entire poem from one word? It's not that easy, because you are limited to the letters available in that one word. It reminded me of the game words within words. Once the reader (or writer) realizes how these poems are created they will enjoy and appreciate the art of writing poetry from a single word. less
