review 1: I was rather disappointed with this picture book. I was hoping for a fun story where a young girl shows the other players who's boss. I guess she did in a way, but by being rather odd and unpredictable and following her own set of rule instead of just playing really good baseball. The illustrations were a little fun in a quirky kind of way. Overall nothing too special, nothing I will be returning to time and time again.
review 2: One of my dad's favorite poems was "Casey at the Bat" and we grew up hearing him recite it to us. So I was excited to read this "sequel". ... moreat girls are just as good at sports as boys. It was a cute premise, but really? Pitching baseballs like it's a football, tennis ball or soccer ball? That would never go over in a game, even if it is just some small town match. I was expecting her just to be the greatest pitcher ever and strike the guy out normally - I think that would've driven home the "girls are good at baseball" point much better. Also, while I was glad they included the original "Casey at the Bat" at the end, I really think it would be better served as a prelude - I find it's an obscure poem most people don't know and as it is the prequel to this story, it should come first! less

I like what they tried to do, but, in spite of the cleverness, it feels rather forced. Ages 4-7.

First read Casey at the Bat (included at the end), then read this parody. Fun twist at the end!

What fun! I loved that girl power is central to the story line. Great illustrations!
