review 1: This is a touching story a young girl in sixth grade, Abby, who gets separated from her dog, Tam, after a car accident in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This story is unique because it switches between the girl’s and the dog’s point of view but is like a lot of other lost animal stories. It could be paced better because a lot of the story is Tam's obstacle after obstacle to find his way home. There are valuable themes presented in this novel, such as overcoming obstacles and persevering in the face of struggles. This story could be placed in a third to sixth grade classroom and would appeal to animal lovers. It could be used to teach lessons about animals and overcoming obstacles, but there are other novels in this genre that are better written for this age cate... moregory.
review 2: This book is about a Sheltie that was separated from his girl, Abby. Both Abby and the Sheltie, Tam, show unyielding loyalty to each other, and though Abby is too far to hear, smell, or see, Tam restlessly travels hundreds of miles, run on the memory alone of his girl. This sweet book is truly heart-warming, and is a must read. SPOILER PART OF THE REVIEW:This is a dog book. Thus, an animal will indeed die once it's grown close to your heart. Beware. What I didn't like at all was how abruptly the book ended. It left me hanging, but not in the "OH I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!" Or "THAT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME BOOK!" Type of way. More like the "...That's it? It's over?" Sort of way. But overall, the book was AMAZING. less
