review 1: I read this with my 5-year-old son today. Did we ever enjoy it! It is a simple but new take on "The House That Jack Built". I love the twist about everyone coming back to take away the things that made up Jack's fort. Rather than seeing the fort being built from the ground up, we see it being dismantled! And Jack's facial expressions and exasperations throughout are something any 5-year-old boy can relate to. The text flowed so well and had a magical cadence to it.
review 2: This is a story of a little boy who built a fort for himself but won't let anyone in! It turns out that everything he used to build the fort belonged to someone else...so his fort ends up getting depleted before he gets a chance to really use it!The story is written in wonderful rhym... morees and repetition for kids to enjoy, and the pictures are lovely. I especially liked the moral at the end! less
